| November 2010 Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Race Records to the rest of the world! From all of us here at Race, we would like to extend our best wishes to all of you and your families at this festive time of year and thank you for your support in helping make Race Records the company into which we have grown. With the release of the single, "Canadian Heroes", (now available here at Race, as well as at CanadianHeroes.com) and the subsequent effort of philanthropist, Chris Eklund in his tireless work and dedication in the marketing of the song, we have seen the difference such an effort can make. Special thanks also to all of the families of our fallen heroes, without whom this movement would not have been possible. It has been a priviledge and great honour to participate in this project. The song was written for our Canadian Armed Forces by Race Records Alumni, Jay Simpson, Georgie Fab, Sonny Del Rio and Skip Prokop. Co-produced by Georgie Fab and Juno Award winning engineer / producer, L. Stu Young, the song features a who's- who of Hamilton, Canada's singer / songwriters. Once asked, the legendary Canadian punkers, Teenage Head, Juno Award winners (Canada's equivalent of the American Grammy) Tom Wilson, Juno x2 (Junk House, Blackie & the Rodeo Kings), Jeff Madden (Jersey Boys-Toronto), Skip Prokop, Juno x4 (Lighthouse), Ian Thomas, Juno Award Winner, Brian Melo (Canadian Idol winner), Jack de Keyzer, Juno Award Winner, Steve Negus, Juno Award Winner (Saga), Dave Rave, Juno & Grammy Nominee, Kelly Jay (Crowbar), Dan Clancy (Lighthouse), Jesse O'Brien, Carlo DiBattista (Powerhouse), Sonny Del Rio (Crowbar), Jay Simpson and Smilin' Joe Allain and his St. Michael's 80-piece Children's Choir, were all on board. The choir was recorded by Juno Award winner Dan Achen (at his Catherine North Studio in Hamilton, Canada) and the band tracks recorded by Juno Award winner, L. Stu Young, at the Metalworks in Toronto, Canada. Various vocal and instrumental overdubs were recorded by Georgie Fab at Race Records own studio, A Cellar Full of Noise. Look also for the long-awaited 'lost' King Biscuit Boy record, "Biscuits and Gravy", produced by Georgie Fab and former Blood Sweat & Tears saxman, Darcy Hepner. This record is due in February, 2011. Also scheduled for release in February, 2011 is the second Clown School CD, "Fat Bottom Boys Wail in Jail". Paul and John Wheeler have enrolled in school and believe me, along with Jack Pedler, L. Stu Young and Georgie Fab, they have put together another "one-off" that only Clown School can deliver! November 23rd, 2010 is the release date of the Saint Patrick's Folk Group's new Christmas CD, "Oh What a Night", led by choir director, Smilin' Joe Allain. All proceeds from this record go to various food banks in and around Hamilton, Canada. Also recently released to radio is the first two singles from the up-coming Robert E. Denton CD In Dent, titled "Yukon Party" and "Everybody." The CD will follow early in 2011. And what would Christmas be like without a new Sonny Del-Rio single, "Merry Christmas to you" which has Sonny and friends delivering the perfect Christmas gift just in time for the holiday season. Enjoy the holidays! |
