New Releases!

August 2009
Well, it's summer again, and Race Records is in the final stages of its production of the song, "Canadian Heroes." This song was written for our Canadian Armed Forces by Race Records Alumni, Jay Simpson, Georgie Fab, Sonny Del Rio and Skip Prokop. Co-produced by Georgie Fab and Juno Award winning engineer / producer, L. Stu Young, the song features a who's- who of Hamilton, Canada's singer / songwriters.

Once asked, the legendary Canadian punkers, Teenage Head, Juno Award winners (Canada's equivalent of the American Grammy) Tom Wilson, Juno x2 (Junk House, Blackie & the Rodeo Kings), Skip Prokop, Juno x4 (Lighthouse), Ian Thomas, Juno Award Winner, Brian Melo (Canadian Idol winner), Jack de Keyzer, Juno Award Winner, Steve Negus, Juno Award Winner (Saga), Dave Rave, Juno Nominee, Kelly Jay (Crowbar), Dan Clancy (Lighthouse), Jesse O'Brien, Carlo DiBattista (Powerhouse), Sonny Del Rio (Crowbar), Jay Simpson and Smilin' Joe Allain and his St. Michael's 80-piece Children's Choir, were all on board.

The choir was recorded by Juno Award winner Dan Achen (at his Catherine North Studio in Hamilton, Canada) and the band tracks recorded by Juno Award winner, L. Stu Young, at the Metalworks in Toronto, Canada. Various vocal and instrumental overdubs were recorded by Georgie Fab at Race Records own studio, A Cellar Full of Noise.

The song, with ALL proceeds going to the Family Resource Centre in Toronto, will be released on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Canada on Remembrance Day, November 11, 2009. (Visit the website.)

As well as the much anticipated release of "Canadian Heroes", we here at Race Records are excited about the long awaited 'lost' King Biscuit Boy record, "Biscuits and Gravy", produced by Georgie Fab and former Blood, Sweat & Tears saxman, Darcy Hepner. This record is due for an autumn release in 2009.

Also on the horizon is the release of the second Clown School CD, "Meet Clown School."  Believe me, Jack Pedler, L. Stu Young and Georgie Fab have put together another 'one-off' that only "Clown School" can deliver.

In the works now in studio is the tracking of the second Robert E. Denton C.D. as yet untitled and a Christmas C.D. by the "St. Pat's Folk Group", led by choir director, Smilin' Joe Allain. Look for a Christmas Release

Also coming in the near future is a 'best of compilation', featuring tracks from our distinguished Race Records roster of artists.

Yes! It's football season again and the Jake Gaudaur-written Hamilton Tiger Cats Fight Song, "We Love Those Cats", produced by Fab with performances by radio personality Jason Farr (voice in stadium for Tiger Cat home games) and Morning Drive show host for the popular CHAM radio station. Jason is joined by Connie Smith and Wendy Wolfe of CHTV, Alderman Bob Bratina, Tiger Cats head cheerleader, Pigskin Pete, legendary saxman, Sonny Del-Rio and the Hamilton Tiger Cat singers. This is a must-have for any Hamilton Tiger Cat fan or football collectible fight song enthusiast - also available during games at Ivor Wynne Stadium.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!
We sadly mourn his passing...

This past July 2nd marks the third anniversary of the passing of guitar master, Byng Bell, aka Mark Severn. Race Records has dusted off a dozen or so songs that Mark wrote with partner Georgie Fab and is revisiting these tracks as we speak.
